Kabelgoot, het hart van de installatie
As an installer you know that the cable duct is the heart of the installation. Sometimes the meter cupboard is seen as the heart, and perhaps that is true, but only once the cable ducts are in place. The construction drawing for non-residential buildings is the best example of this: the cable ducts are the guideline! They are the basis of the living environment, determining what is needed where. The cable ducts allow sockets, the coffee corner and lighting to be located where they are needed.

Below you will find more information about cable ducts and four useful tips.

Cable ducts, take margins into account

When choosing the cable duct, it is important to also take the future into account. They often become too narrow over time because the situation in the building has changed. There is expansion and therefore more workplaces, increased digital possibilities or a change in work situation. What we often see is that the cables end up on top of each other while they should be separated. It is therefore certainly smart to build in a wide margin when choosing the cable duct. So don't just pay attention to the price of your products.

Ladder tracks, a must have

Ladder tracks contribute greatly to an organized cable infrastructure. They provide a structured solution for cables and provide better cooling than cables laid directly in the duct. Thicker cables in particular require ladder tracks.

Make smart use of accessories and options

The range of accessories for cable ducts at InElektro is very diverse. By making smart use of these accessories you can work faster and achieve a better, more beautiful result. Examples of fittings include branch pieces, risers, corner pieces and flexible pieces for bends.

The steel cable ducts at InElektro are 1mm thick. That is thicker than a regular cable duct and therefore they are sturdier. The advantage of this is better wearing comfort and a longer lifespan.

Did you know that fire alarm cables may also be placed in the cable duct? In that case, secure the cable duct with wall anchors to increase safety.

Four tips for installers

Although installers have all the knowledge in-house, there are always new options and products. Based on our expertise, we provide a few more tips below!

  • Tip 1: Choose a wider gutter. We have already explained it above: choose a slightly wider gutter with a view to the future. This way your customer can expand without hindrance. Also useful: it is easier to place a divider in a wider gutter. This way you can separate electrical cables from low-voltage cables, which is often mandatory.
  • Tip 2: Consult with other installers. Are you working on a project that involves multiple installers? Coordinate the course of the cable duct. This way you avoid encountering pipes from your colleagues during your work.
  • Tip 3: Are you making a cable duct against the wall? Then choose brackets that are about 5 cm longer. This way, the gutter will be located a little further from the wall and pipes can be hidden behind the gutter unseen.
  • Tip 4: Be creative with the cable duct. You can use cable ducts for all kinds of extras. From installing LED fixtures to installing spotlights and hanging lamps. You can also discuss with your customer the possibility of hanging other things such as streamers, party cards, a camera or even a work of art.
