Just as you cannot do without pur and sealant in construction, as an installer you cannot do without wall trunking. After all, it is a valuable, and nowadays indispensable, addition to the standard installation with many connection points. This is especially the case in offices, shops and industry, but also increasingly in private homes. There too, all kinds of equipment with the necessary cables are used. Think of the television, printer, computer, telephone charging points, lighting, alarm system and more. We are seeing more and more wireless installations, but there are still many cables that need to be processed.
Wall gutters in the business environment
Most construction projects already provide a (steel) cable duct on the ceiling in which all electrical cables can be processed. These cables must then be neatly routed to where they are needed. In offices, for example, there are many desks where the necessary sockets must also be provided. This has usually already been discussed with the customer. If not, you can still do that as an installer.
Remember that workplaces are often mobile or change over time. Network cables therefore often require excess length; you can then move more easily later.
Wall duct, electrical column or floor column
Sometimes it is more convenient to work with an electrical column instead of a wall duct. You can assemble everything from the ceiling with the cables pointing downwards and just next to or behind the desk. Sometimes this is not possible and the best choice is a floor column. You can then feed the floor column with cables using a floor duct. In that case, another option is to use a screed floor. This must be milled in. Pay attention to the existing pipes in the floor.
Work quickly and cost-effectively
Wall gutters are usually made of plastic, which ensures that they can be easily processed. Easier and faster than a steel wall duct for which you also need special tools. However, in some environments a steel wall duct is mandatory.
Another major advantage of the wall trunking is that, depending on the brand, you can use pluggable wall sockets. This allows you to quickly create a solid and beautiful installation, at a competitive price.
Tip: When selecting the switching material, pay attention to the lines of the material. If you make the right choice, the switching material can disappear in the wall trunking. Pay attention to the colors of your material and the environment. You can turn the wall duct into something functional and beautiful and your customer can enjoy it for years to come.
5 Tips when installing wall gutters:
- Tip 1: Cables for a floor column can also be reached via the first floor. In that case, drill the holes through the floor and wire your installation on the floor below. This of course requires consultation, but can be very useful and lead to lower installation costs
- Tip 2: Communicate with your customer about the advantages of plastic wall ducts: easier, often more beautiful, faster and therefore (much) cheaper
- Tip 3: Always allow a few meters of excess length for network cables. This way you can create other positions later if necessary
- Tip 4: Always choose the corresponding flush-mounted box for the wall trunking, so that it fits seamlessly with the wall trunking. Don't: combine the cheapest version of wall trunking from one brand with another brand of flush-mounted box and vice versa
- Tip 5: Choose the color of the switching material and the wall trunking in advance so that they match well
