What brands of distribution boxes are there?

You can choose from group boxes from various renowned brands:

The Hager brand offers electrical, specialist solutions for building automation, energy distribution and an extensive range of switching material. In addition, these high-quality group cabinets are easy to install and use. Equipped with KEMA approval and fully pre-assembled by us.

The Schneider brand has been around for many years, since 1836! It is therefore a reliable brand with an extensive range including the Schneider Electric group cabinet components. This brand stands for safety, is energy efficient and all components are provided with KEMA approval.

We offer everything you need to put together the perfect distribution box and the distribution box is shipped fully assembled by us. InElektro also offers many products from the brand Voitech . A brand that meets all requirements but is more affordable.

Empty distribution boards with DIN rail

Din rail is indispensable in the distribution box. That is why we supply a large number of different distribution boxes that are equipped with Din rail. The electrical components are attached to this, such as the installation of circuit breakers, power supplies and connection terminals. It is also a pleasant and easy way of working because the components are clicked directly onto the rail without the need for mounting materials. You can choose from empty distribution boxes from well-known brands such as Schneider and EKONT in various versions. For example, you can go for a small distribution box with 3 modules to large distribution boxes with x modules.

Assembling a distribution box - step-by-step plan

Do you want to assemble a group cabinet yourself? Then follow this step-by-step plan:

Step 1: Determine the group box phase
If you purchase a completely new distribution box , you can choose between a 1-phase or 3-phase distribution box.

If you are going to replace an existing fuse box , you can usually see on the energy bill what kind of fuse box you have: 1 phase or 3 phase. If it is not stated on the bill, you can also look at the kWh on the meter. With a 1-phase connection you will see 1x220V/230V. With a 3-phase connection it will say 3x220V/230V or 380V/400V.

Step 2: Determine the number of groups
You can calculate yourself how many groups you need in the distribution box:

  • Count the number of sockets and light points in the house; on average, 8 sockets and 3 light points may be connected to 1 group (light points = central boxes)
  • Calculate which devices can be grouped together. Electrical devices indicate how much power is consumed. Then do the calculation: number of amps x 230V. For example, for a group of 16 amps, 16x230=3680W applies
  • It is best to connect electrical appliances that consume more than 2000W to a separate group, including induction.
  • Earth leakage circuit breakers: at least two per distribution box are mandatory. A maximum of four groups of earth leakage circuit breakers may be connected to each (2-pole)
  • A power group must be connected to a separate 4P (4-pole) earth leakage circuit breaker, with some exceptions

Step 3: Accessories
It may be necessary and/or useful to choose certain accessories. A power outlet in the fuse box, for example. This is often a great solution when connecting a modem. It can also be smart to have your own electricity meter in the fuse box. With this, you can measure the energy consumption in a separate room, such as the garage. Also consider a bell transformer if you have a wireless doorbell. The bell transformer converts the power supply into low-voltage current.

Step 4: Connecting the fuse box
Have you mapped out your wishes and needs? Then you can order the distribution box. For the connection, it is best to call in a certified installer, although it is also permitted to do this yourself. In the latter case, you should definitely be professionally qualified, otherwise we advise against this.
