What does LED mean and how does LED lighting work?

The Light Emitting Diode, abbreviated as LED lamp, is intended as a replacement for incandescent lamps, halogen lamps and energy saving lamps. The lamp has a diameter of only 0.5 to 9 mm, provides very bright light and is very economical. By passing electricity through the diode, energy is released which is then converted into light. Little heat is released, which means the lamps have a long lifespan and are safe to use.

The light can have different colors (white, green, blue, red and yellow) and that color is determined by the processes used to make the LED chip. LED lighting is often dimmable.

The first LED lamps were worked on as early as 1907, but it was not until 1962 that the first working LED lamp was produced. Nowadays, LED lamps have an extremely long lifespan: depending on the circumstances and the number of burning hours, up to 10 years or 30,000 to 50,000 and sometimes even up to 70,000 burning hours.
The warranty on LED lamps varies from 2 to 5 years.
